Botany Town Centre Community Day, 4th March 2017
The Toy Library had a blast at the Community Day At Botany Town Centre this summer.
Our presence there was all thanks to the kind support of the Botany Life Community Church, who gave us half of their own stand to make a small ‘play space’ to promote the library as well as keeping us fed with the free popcorn they were handing out!
Two of our committee members, Adeline Williams and Ruth Reid, volunteered to man the stand. Although the decision to take part was at relatively short notice, we luckily had our lovely new brochures and a poster, designed by ASHH studio to ensure visitors knew who we were.
We chose to run a playdough activity with the kids as well as bringing along a couple of our larger toys, a roleplay kitchen and garage, which are always popular. The playdough table was very busy all morning, with kids of all ages really enjoying this squishy play. We even had some teens making some ambitious playdough creations, proving that you are never too old to have fun with dough!
It was a very successful morning, with many visitors to our stand being new to the idea of toy library or unaware of our local organisation.
We will definitely be at the community day next year, see you there!
